Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island offers an amazing variety of Australian wildlife in their natural environment.  Australian Sea Lions and New Zealand fur seals basking on quiet beaches, koalas perched in gum trees, echidnas waddling along with their distinctive gait, or goannas, wallabies, possums, penguins and native birds, all in their natural home.  Kangaroos are a part of the landscape as they go about their daily life.  One third of the Island is protected in national parks, and half the island has never been cleared of natural vegetation.

Experience: Two days tour with a local guide who offers a conversation (not a commentary), filled with little known facts about the wildlife, and the Island.

Accommodation: Two nights in a boutique Bed-and-Breakfast, with meals featuring Island produce.

Accommodation can be upgraded to Australia’s first eco-lodge, the award-winning Southern Ocean Lodge (at additional cost).

Gawler Ranges

The ancient volcanic landscapes of the Gawler Ranges offers jagged red rock formations, ochre pits traditionally used for body painting, blindingly white salt lakes which resemble the snow fields of Antarctica, and wildlife.  Emus, five different types of kangaroos, euros, wombats, goannas – all in their natural habitat.  The Gawler Ranges is slightly off the beaten track, but the rewards are incredible

In season, you will have the opportunity to swim with wild dolphins and sea-lions.
